A healthy diet is the basis for vibrant health.

I know that from my own experience.

I wasn’t always as healthy as I am today.

Originally from Belgium, I graduated as an economist at the University of Antwerp. I worked in Greece, Portugal and Belgium for several multinational companies until I decided to settle in sunny Barcelona in 1999 where I ran a successful tour, events and incentive business for more than 16 years.

It was a fantastic experience but I also suffered a lot of stress, worked long hours, and didn’t always have enough time to cook a decent meal, to exercise, or rest and sleep well. Slowly but surely my health started to deteriorate; I started having joint problems, inflammations and minor pains all over my body, viral infections (Epstein Barr), hair loss, sleeping problems, stomach pains, lack of energy, allergies, etc.

One morning in 2015, I woke up with a terrible pain in my arm and shoulder for no apparent reason. My condition went from bad to worse until at some point I was no longer able to work and no longer knew how to handle the pain.
I was dragging myself from one doctor to the next and had to take a lot of medicine (NSAIDs, Cortisone,, etc..) but found no solution.

Until I went to see an Osteopath in Belgium who was also trained as an orthomolecular therapist. He looked at my problem in a holistic way: he asked me about my eating habits, digestion, stress levels, sleeping patterns, allergies, if I had suffered certain viral infections, etc. and explained how all these elements had an influence on my health situation.

After the visit I understood that I had to change my eating and lifestyle habits in order to get my health and energy back on track.
It became clear that I was eating way too much sugar, fast carbohydrates and saturated fats and not enough healthy fats and vegetables and that all the snacking in between meals was a disaster for my digestion.
To be honest, the sugar , biscuits and candies had accompanied me all my life, even when I was a young Gymnast at elite level….
In fact, I had always been skinny and therefore thought that I could handle all these foods.

In addition to a healthier diet I took up meditation and breathing exercises to reduce my stress level and started doing exercises that were appropriate for me.
Very rapidly, my stomach and intestines felt much better…After years of suffering stomach aches (I assumed this was normal), my belly felt light and normal.
Slowly but surely, I got my energy back, had less pain and inflammation, my hair was in much better shape, my allergies disappeared, etc.
I was back in control of my health and my life.

The new habits and insights on what had really caused my problems changed my life dramatically to such an extent that I decided to train to become an orthomolecular nutritionist & therapist. Now I want to help as many people as possible to take control of their own health.

I took several courses:
– General nutritionist
– Sports nutrition
– Orthomolecular therapy (in Ghent – at kPNI)

And I’m continuously growing and discovering new tools to improve health.

What else?

I am the lucky mom of Max.
I cannot live without my bike, coffee, 85% cacao chocolate, my spices, herbs and liquorice infusion.
I’m addicted to cooking, inventing new recipes (with loads of veggies) and trying out new restaurants.
